Comic Mint, your best source for rare, kooky, and classic animation art, is pleased to offer fans of the "George of the Jungle Show” this incredibly RARE production setup featuring production cels of George and Leon the Lion on an original production background.

As is the case with most surviving art from this series, the cels and background have been trimmed to a size measuring 9.25" x 8.25” inches. The cels were hand painted in Mexico and then discarded, so very few survive. The cel of George is from the 8th episode titled “The Desperate Showers” and can be seen on screen around the 06:18 mark. Leon the Lion is from the 17th (final) episode titled “Kings Back to Back” and can be seen on screen around the 02:06 mark. The background is from the 4th episode titled “Ungawa the Gorilla God” and can be seen on screen around the 00:46 mark.
The Jay Ward Studio sold these cels (trimmed and matted) through his Dudley Do-Right Emporium on Sunset Blvd during the 1980's. The artwork has a small inscription on the back (attached) written by Jay Ward.

Background info:
George of the Jungle was an American animated series produced by Jay Ward and Bill Scott, who created The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show. The character George was inspired by the legend of Tarzan. It ran for 17 episodes on Saturday mornings from September 9 to December 30, 1967, on the American TV network ABC.
The title segment, George of the Jungle, is a parody of the popular Tarzan stories of Edgar Rice Burroughs. George (voiced by Bill Scott), is a dim-witted but big-hearted "ape man" who is always called upon by District Commissioner Alistair (voiced by Paul Frees) to save inhabitants of the jungle from various threats.

In the opening title, George is depicted swinging on vines, repeatedly slamming face-first into trees or other obstacles even as theme-song singers warn him to "watch out for that tree!" Another running gag is that George keeps forgetting that he lives in a treehouse, falling to the ground every time he leaves home.
