This is the original artwork for the classic "The Nearsighted Mr. Magoo" Daily Comic Strip, dated August 10th, 1965.
Created by comic artist Pete Alvarado, rendered in ink and Zipatone over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 20.25" x 6” inches. The word balloons are printed paste-ups. There is some whiteout art correction; otherwise, the art is in excellent condition. The artwork is issued with a certificate of authenticity (as pictured).
The Nearsighted Mr. Magoo newspaper comic strip was drawn by Pete Alvarado (1920-2003) during the early 1960s, distributed by The Chicago Tribune Syndicate. The strip featured UPA Studio character Quincy Magoo, an extremely nearsighted older man whose vision often got him and others into trouble. This strip features the well-meaning menace, Mr. Magoo, as he trundles through the jungle with his nephew Waldo, in this funny strip that is typical of his ocular jocularities.
