Comic Mint, your best source for rare, kooky, and classic animation art, is pleased to offer Hanna-Barbera fans this sensational hand painted cartoon cel from the classic sixties television series 'The Perils of Penelope Pitstop'.
The Perils of Penelope Pitstop was one of two Hanna-Barbera series to spin-off from Wacky Races. The show premiered on CBS on 9/13/69 and ran for one season with a total of 17 half-hour episodes. The series was patterned on the silent movie era melodrama cliffhanger movie serial The Perils of Pauline. In each episode, Penelope's guardian, Sylvester Sneekly, attempts to claim Penelope's inheritance for himself by attacking her in the disguise of his sinister alter-ego the Hooded Claw. While Penelope was curiously helpless whenever the Hooded Claw grabbed her, once he left her tied up for his fiendish plans to take effect, she usually became resourceful and ingenious, sometimes coming up with spontaneous or creative methodologies to escape her own predicaments.
This fantastic color model/ publicity cel features the whole cast: Our heroine, Penelope Pitstop is seated in the Ant Hill Mob's car "Chugga-Boom", surrounded by the Ant Hill Mob: Clyde, Dum Dum, Pockets, Snoozy, Softy, Yak Yak and Zippy.
The cel was created for use in a variety of promotional programs and consumer products and measures 16.5" by 13.5" inches. The characters are all fully painted onto 16 field acetate and placed over a color card. Color Model artwork is considered rare and highly sought after by discerning collectors.
