Comic Mint is your best source for 100% genuine Simpsons Animation Artwork licensed by Twentieth Century Fox. We are pleased to offer SIMPSONS fans this rare couch gag which was used in the classic fourth season episode "Itchy & Scratchy: The Movie" (1992). This classic couch gag features the Simpsons family rushing into the living room, and sitting on the couch, which deflates like a balloon.

This is one of the very few and unique "couch gag" cel set-ups used in the production of "The Simpsons" main titles. Fans of "The Simpsons" eagerly await the show's opening each week to see what new surprise will befall the family as they race toward their favourite piece of furniture. "Simpsons" creator Matt Groening says varying the couch gags was inspired by his fondness for opening titles of 60's situation comedies like "The Dick Van Dyke Show." He remembers Dick occasionally tripped over the ottoman while other times he went around it.

This is a one-of-a-kind piece (there are no others), the artwork was filmed and used in the making of this SIMPSONS episode. Freeze-frame your DVD or Video, and you will see this unique piece of artwork on screen around the 1:09 mark. The characters are hand-painted onto a single cel, the TV is hand-painted onto a cel overlay, both are paired and registered to a special hand-painted reproduction of the original background created by the FOX Studio. ALL couch gags released came with hand-painted reproduction backgrounds.

This 12 field, 3-peghole, 7 cel setup measures 10.5 inches by 12.5 inches wide, and bears the Twentieth Century Fox gold seal (lower corner). The artwork is also accompanied with the original Twentieth Century Fox certificate of authenticity and is in excellent condition. The artwork has been in a private collection for over 20 years, and is available custom matted with a SIMPSONS gold logo plaque.
