Comic Mint is your best source for 100% genuine Simpsons Animation Artwork licensed by Twentieth Century Fox.
We are pleased to offer SIMPSONS fans this RARE hand painted original production cel setup, from the classic twelfth season episode "A Tale of Two Springfields" (2000).
Here is a sensational multi-character scene which may have been edited from the final broadcast, as this appears to be created as Pete Townshend from The Who is about to blast his guitar! An interesting lineup which includes Otto, Professor Frink, Dr Hibberd, Kent Brockman, Barney, Bar Fly, Reverend Lovejoy, Chief Wiggum, Ruth Powers, App, Nelson, Jimbo, Kearney, Groundskeeper Willie, Comic Book Guy, Agnes Skinner, Principal Skinner, Burns, Smithers, Hans Moleman, Dr Nick, Ned Flanders and Sideshow Mel.
This is a one-of-a-kind, hand-painted production cel (there are no others), and the artwork was filmed and used in the making of this SIMPSONS episode. The characters are hand-painted onto a single cel, Comic Book Guy’s eyes are on a seperate cel, and the wall of junk is a foreground cel. These are placed against a copy of the matching scene background.
This 12 field, 3-peghole, celluloid measures 10.5 inches by 12.5 inches wide, and bears the Twentieth Century Fox gold seal (lower corner). The artwork is also accompanied with the original Twentieth Century Fox certificate of authenticity and is in excellent condition.
EPISODE SYNOPSIS:
A Tale of Two Springfields" is the second episode from season twelve of the animated TV series The Simpsons and is the 250th episode of the series overall in both broadcast and production order.
When the phone company gives Springfield a new area code, Homer revolts taking the part of Springfield with the new area code (the poor side of town) with him. Soon it's Olde Springfield versus New Springfield. As mayor of New Springfield Homer runs it haphazardly and soon the population of New Springfield moves over to Olde Springfield, leaving the Simpson family as the only residents. It takes a Who concert to bring the two parts of Springfield together.
