"Woody Greets His Friends" is an original work of art, based on a mural created by Walter Lantz and donated to the Doris Stein Eye Research Centre of the Jules Stein Institute at U.C.L.A.
The first 120 pieces have been signed by Walter Lantz, and were presented as gifts to the major donors of the Institute.

The 16 field pan cel depicts nine famous Walter Lantz characters, five on the handprinted cel and four on the background. In the scene, Woody Woodpecker, his nephew Knotted, and niece Splinter greet friends and co-stars Chilly Willy and Andy Panda as well as Oswald Rabbit, Homer Pigeon, Wally Walrus and Buzz Buzzard.
The original art from which the cel was reproduced was executed by Frank McSavage, one of Lantz's greatest artists. The artist's pencil drawing was transferred directly onto the cel in traditional animation style and then hand-painted. The beautiful water-color background is reproduced by lithography.

This piece is especially cool as it has been SOLD-OUT for over three decades, as it was released way back in 1989, and is very hard to find. It is one of only 500 pieces in the world, which is hand-numbered and the image area measures 17" x 11" inches. The cel has the official Walter Lantz Productions gold seal (lower right corner) and is accompanied with a studio of authenticity.
